An invitation to our “Tools for Healing” groups September 2013
Note: For latest information about Medical Counseling's groups, see the group information page.
I am very excited about the “Tools for Healing” groups that my associate, Dr. Jan Chambers, and I have created to help people who live with illness, pain, anxiety, or medical conditions. Our new sessions begin next week, and we are offering Monday evening and Tuesday morning groups to accommodate different needs.
In these 8 session experiential groups, participants learn principles of brain science (neuroplasticity), and well-studied techniques such as meditation, imagery, journaling, expressive arts, and many others, which can change the brain to decrease pain, discomfort related to illness or medical conditions, anxiety, and depression.

These groups also function as support groups and we have a lot of fun with the activities! This is an opportunity to acknowledge and nurture your inner hero in company with others who are on similar journeys.
It has long been known through experience and medical studies that using these techniques, such as meditation and imagery, gives us the tools to feel better. Now, with the newest brain research teaching us how the brain changes throughout life, we can get even more benefit from using these tools consciously to change the brain. In addition to feeling better, we can actually decrease or even eliminate symptoms of pain, discomfort, and anxiety. I invite you to call me for more information: 510-701-0134.
